On  Investorline, I put in  PPL.PF.A in the quote box and nothing shows up. This is where I get quotes for stocks. So I am not sure why that is so.

I'm not sure of what you're asking but ...One would submit an order to buy a pref (PPL.PF.A ) the same way one buys anything else.

All depends on boc 5 yr next dec Today the reset would be 3.6 plus 2.5 = 6.1 x25 = 1.52  152/1771=  A yield of 8.5 on 1771 not bad personally I think rates will be lower
