RE:TFSA deposits
Casus...TFSA deposits alone are substantial enough to trigger a rally in anything. Firstly because of the low deposit limits each year, and secondly because some people (like myself) just transfer existing stock into the TFSA vs. actually purchasing new shares. Transferring is beneficial as you can pick up cheap shares in Nov/Dec and not have to wait and hope that the prices are still where you want them in January. It is also easy if you have both your non-registered and TFSA accounts at the same brokerage. I just filled out the online form today and submitted it electronically. They will transfer my shares at the end of business based on the price you want within the days range (i.e. the day's high or low) Any gain or loss over what you purchased them for will be triggered for tax purposes.
