has anyone on the board tried to quantify the OP cost advantage of the torches vs burners? Aside from the environmental benefits, what is the payback period before considering carbon credits and such??
Found this.... Hope it helps.
Some thoughts on the feasability of the cost of torches for iron ore pelletization. How is it worth 150M/plant??
The numbers:
Customers Cost
Each plant requires 50 torches so 50 x $3M CAD = $150M CAD/Plant
Carbon tax savings:
Swedens Carbon tax is currently (By far the highest in the world) ~ $125.00 USD/Tonne
Carbon reduction using Plasma Torches vs Fossil fuel burner ~ 350,000 Tonnes/Plant/yr
So $125.00 USD x 350000 Tonnes = $43,750,000 USD/yr
Converted to CAD @ 1.37 x $43,750,000 USD = $59,937,500
So project payback just from carbon tax savings alone would be $150,000,000 / $59,937,500 = 2.5yrs
