RE: takeoverI've posted before on this: think it's very unlikely a non-IP firm would do it. Too hard to evaluate the business, takes an Intel, Apple etc. away from its core business into mysterious waters, etc. The IP firms are mostly too small to do it; e.g. Mosaid's market cap now below WIN's, so if anything WIN might be an acquirer. At some point, as IP marketplace matures, there will be more consolidation thru m/a's, takeovers, etc. My money would be on Mhyrvold's Intellectual Ventures in U.S. (https://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/06_27/b3991401.htm). It's private, so no idea how much $ it has to play with right now, but as IP market matures and becomes more credible to broader investment community, Mhyrvold has the connections, Microsoft buddies etc. to put together the dollars. But if WIN realizes it's potential, it will probably be too expensive. Maybe there will be a window, a couple of years out. Hard to say. Personally, I wouldn't hold WIN as a take-out candidate. Too many other better reasons!
