Yes, it will take a while to play out, but it doesn't have to take years. If the patents are solid, some companies might simply choose to license them. At any rate, an announcement would have a significant impact on Wilan by giving the company more credibility, which might help the company receive a proper valuation.
The fact that JS said they are getting closer to a price they can live with tells you that at least some companies are already planning to pay a reasonable amount. It won't benefit the companies to hold out too much longer if the case is so solid. And I think it is safe to assume that JS gave them a timeline in which they can save money.
