RE:RE:Wi-LAN upgraded to STRONG BUY by Industrial AllianceOK, when we don't like the facts, we make wild unsupported accusations of corruption etc. Let's look at the facts re "companies that have signed licences may now refuse to pay." First, in the wake of previous court decision, did this happen? No. Why not? Because if a company stops paying on a signed licensing deal, it is in violation of the deal and any court action would be about non-compliance, not whether or not a patent is valid. So, a whole different ball game, and pretty cut and dried legally, I would think. Furthermore, WIN has directly addressed this concern in its pr materials, and basically dismissed it. But they can't say a default on an agreement will never happen, because it could (and did, if my memory serves re the TV side). But extremely unlikely because of the above. Disclosure: I'm not a lawyer, but this seems obvious to me. Comments from bona fide lawyers, of whom there seem to be several on this board, welcome.
Difficult time to hold this one, for sure. But I find it interesting that even pessimistic analysts are still rating it a buy (Paradigm excepted, I guess).
