Party Affiliation -Canada vs. U.S. differences

Party Affiliation -Canada vs. U.S. differencesI know we have consumed far too much time on politics today but I would like to make one observation on a major difference between Canadian vs. U.S. politics. In Canada, few people are aligned with a party. Most people vote for a party based on their platform and their performance. If the in power party screws up or doesn't deliver on their promises, we have no issue voting for a different party. Using American nomenclature, that would make the majority of Canadians independents. In the U.S., people's alignment with a party is much stronger. As a result, voting Trump out even though he is clearly inept is a much bigger deal because it means voting for a different party or not voting at all. Switching the party you vote for is a huge deal in the U.S. In Canada, it's no big deal
