I would give them RSUs with the restrictions being entirely on the performance of ETC.  Instead they get rights on QTRH.  Should WIlan be successful in getting a cash settlement from Apple, why should employees of a different division, who didn't even work here when the supposed infringement took place have the right to share in any of this settlement.  Typical lining of ...more

Yes, the ETC people could get a quick Wilan-related pop on their rights. I would expect that there's an understanding on both sides that this is in lieu of something like a signing bonus. The numbers aren't huge and it should be a top priority that the top ETC people--who, by all accounts, have done an amazing job--are enthusiastic about making Quarterhill a tolling / ITS world leader.

1/2fulm, you obviously don't have the slightest clue how the comp policy works. It is based on performance against objectives, which in the case of ETC, would be ETC.

In this case it's also part of retaining talent after the acquisition, to make sure that the acquisition pays off.

I did too, but I took him off ignore. Sadly, he's as stupid as he was prior. That said, I'm retired so I have a bit of spare time.
