Paul Hill buys more stock today

Paul Hill bought another 19,230 shares at 2.56 today

When a CEO puts his own hard earned cash to buy a stock, pay attention.

Thx v_g.  I can't wait for 1/2full's commentary!
Comment by Justhalffull on Sep 14, 2021 2:07am
LOL. Whoop de do.  We pay the guy over $400,000 a year plus perks, and he steps up and buys $50,000 worth of stock.  Arrange a parade to celebrate.  We can have Skippys school bus lead the way.
Comment by v_guerriero on Sep 14, 2021 6:52am
He has purchased 272k shares of his own money in the last 15 months.  He has put every dollar he has earned back into common shares. If Paul Hill likes the stock, I LIKE THE STOCK! If the stock hits $15, Paul makes a cool $20 million.   That is what these guys are after.  Not collecting a $400k salary.  When a CEO is buying this much stock, you should pay attention.
Comment by Justhalffull on Sep 14, 2021 7:31am
Yes, and I guess he's really happy about the 1,200,000 stock options he was handed.

Still nothing to add to the conversation 1/2full.  Back on IGNORE,

Socrates, unless you are trading the stock, dont worry about the day to day price. it will just stress you out. i believe that by this time next year, these prices will be a thing of the past.

If Paul Hill likes the stock, WE LIKE THE STOCK! all together now... IF PAUL HILL LIKES THE STOCK, WE LIKE THE STOCK! Now chant... WE LIKE THE STOCK! WE LIKE THE STOCK!   WE LIKE THE STOCK!   WE LIKE THE STOCK!   WE LIKE THE STOCK!
Comment by IPGutcsi on Sep 14, 2021 9:55am
I like the stock, but will like it more at +$5.00
Comment by v_guerriero on Sep 14, 2021 9:35pm
I can assure you that he is not putting money into the stock for the 2% dividend.   They communicated a $1,050M market cap by 2025 in their deck.  That is $9.20 / share.  That assumes flat IRD and no WiLan growth and no outsized WiLan contributions.   I can assure you their internal models have $15-$20 upside targets.   Paul Hill wants a 10 bagger.   Once it ...more

I’ve been a share holder of Qtrh since 2006 the old Wilan days and the company is now the strongest it has ever been. I continue to add. On a side note I awoke to a nice surprise this morning. A company I have held since the spin off from Com Dev (Exactearth) just sold to Spire for $3.90 a share,  a premium of 171%. Holding onto Xct was a real roller coaster over the years trading as low as ...more

Ha ha nothing so far Cabbie, I'm a West Coaster (Vancouver Island) just getting up...
Comment by xanada2 on Sep 15, 2021 11:07am
I wish it was 60m but sadly it was only 60k...lol
Comment by Justhalffull on Sep 15, 2021 11:16am
Common in accounting to use the roman numeral M (or m) to indicate 1000   so 60M is in facd  60,000 60 million would be 60 MM     1000 x 1000 = 1,000,000    Your math lesson for the day.
Comment by cabbieJBJ on Sep 15, 2021 11:52am
LOL for sure Bob.  Been over an hour since the last trade.  Did I scare folks off with the M instead of K?
Comment by xanada2 on Sep 15, 2021 12:20pm
No Brian, you didn't scare anyone off. just us crickets here waiting for the shoe to drop....lol
Comment by astutein on Sep 15, 2021 2:32pm
sellors have disappeared or or afraid to sell pending any announcement by Wilan, IRD, ETC and upcoming oral hearing Oct7.  Any buying now should drive up shares. IMO
Comment by v_guerriero on Sep 15, 2021 2:41pm
45k shares available to 2.75. Will be a challenge to build a position before CAFC.   WiLan deals should be announced soon if Paul is keen to deliver on his "strong H2" pipeline promise.  This will rocket higher on any meaningful announcement and best past the 3.10 52 week high.
Comment by cabbieJBJ on Sep 15, 2021 3:26pm
Think you're right Astutein.  BTW, the oral hearing is on the 9th of October at 10:00AM
Comment by Socrates1 on Sep 15, 2021 9:52am
Yup lol....... when you watched the trading patterns as long as I have, you realize that there is ALWAYS an invisible hand at play...... sometimes for and sometimes against.........  looks like that hand may let off on its grip... we are sooo tightly wind its brutal...... catalyst please.......

272K shares * $15/share ~= $4 million (still not a bad payday). Where are you guys reading the company officer disclosures ... am new to $CDN stocks.

He also has 1.2M options that were granted upon his hire.    They are in the money.
Comment by cabbieJBJ on Sep 15, 2021 10:42pm
Valueist, this is a good source as it includes both news and filings: https://ceo.ca/qtrh The SEDI link is active and takes you to the filings. Also, the QTRH website has a complete lisitng of BoD/officers holdings and transaction history.  You will find it under investors/governance/insider ownership. Hope this helps.
Comment by cabbieJBJ on Sep 15, 2021 10:54pm
Valueist, it is also important to factor QTRH's blackout policy when assessing insider transactions (per FAQs on QTRH website): Through regular company-imposed blackout periods, Quarterhill insiders are prevented from trading in shares or disposing of shares resulting from an option exercise. Trading of Quarterhill securities by insiders is subject to Quarterhill’s insider trading policy ...more
Comment by v_guerriero on Sep 16, 2021 7:18am
Thanks for that.  Blackout period starts Monday.   Everyone has their shares now.   Let the "strong H2" news cycle begin.
Comment by Justhalffull on Sep 16, 2021 6:08pm
Dont you find it a bit hypotrical that you bag holders spend years stating that the lack of indider holdings have no meaning, yet when the ceo buys a picayune amount of shares you jump on the lookee heer     ceo buying bandwagon.    Morons
Comment by mrmoribund on Sep 16, 2021 7:19pm
I never thought the level of insider ownership was deficient or inadequate. That said, I take it as a positive when the CEO steps up and buys more shares. Justhalffull, if you think that $50,000 is a "picayune" amount then you must be very rich.
Comment by Justhalffull on Sep 17, 2021 9:03am
Paul Hill is in of more than 272000 common shares, 1,400,000 stock options, and 50,000 RSU's. On top of that, his annual salary, soon to increase, is $401,000. In Hill's world, $50,000 in share purchases is picayune.
