RE: RE: why is Rogers down today?Rogers is a casualty of bad Wireless subscriber numbers from Telus. However, you should keep in mind that Telus serves Western Canada primarily (BC, Alberta) where the oil patch has suffered tremendously over the last year. Telus is suffering collateral damage from oil sands projects being put on hold, which is in turn causing mass layoffs and mass migration back to Ontario. A lot of buddies of mine who moved down to Alberta during the oil boom in the last couple of years are moving back to Ontario.
Rogers on the other hand is serving primarily Ontario, and Central Canada where the news isnt as bad. Plus rogers has the other product lines(Cable, TV, Internet) which will help the bottom line.
Consider this a good opportunity to take a position in Rogers if you are looking for an entry point. There may be some more downside weakness to the $25CDN range, but we can just as easily move up from here very quickly on good numbers when they report and on anticipation of the much awaited BlackBerry Storm on the GSM network. Rumor has it that in May, Rogers is launching many new smart phones once of which is the Strom with WiFi. (See link below)

Also, there are new entrants in the wireless space, but I dont expect them to be a major threat anytime soon.
Good Luck!
