Performance over 10 years

Just took a quick look back at January 2011 for a comparison to performance of RSI. We were trading at this level in 2011. So basically no price appreciation in all that time. Thankfully they have a dividend to ease the growth pains.

As a publicly traded stock management should do a major reflection on performance. They have not moved the share price at all. We are at record levels on the TSX.

Is there anything that will move this stock?  Seems to be a tired stock in a tired industry with no excitement to get investors motivated.

At this time it's strictly an income stock like a riskier GIC.

I hold a small amount and almost forget I own it most of the time.

IMO The 10  chart looks pretty GOOD..( SWEET ) NOTE:  we were in very, very early & continue to hold this investment Long term, collecting the dividend ALL along the way up.  ;>) Still believe in the future of sugar more the any GIC that is currently offered.. Regards for keeping the faith, TimeBuilder

TimeBuiler, either your memory is faulty or you are looking at the wrong chart. RSI was at 4.90 in 2003, 5.20 in 2008, 6.39 in 2021, 6.81 in 2016. The only way you are happy with the performance of this stock is if you bought it in 2009 in the 3 dollar range and even then the SP increase is not great. I have owned this stock off and on for almost 25 years. As a long term buy and hold its ...more

SB 6.39 in 2012, small reversion in last two numbers on previous post. As far as the strike vote, I don't see a strike affecting the share price on RSI to any great amount. Any strike is likely to be short lived. Biggest head wind for RSI is massive competition and improved biut srttill relatively poor leadership.

Thank You  :>O    DeanEdmonton  for your personal insight & comments  re RSI.. Note: we have been a term holder/investor since below 4 $.with  NO trading  & are happy with our total return of 14.4% & the current yield of  6.43%.. Edmonton: I would 100% agree with your direction on RSI.  I have been a Long Term holder (at times) and Seller.  Entry points for capital appreciation are in the $4.50 - $5 (buy range) and sell in the  $6- $6.50 range. I am a big fan of this stock and its dividend, however it does not provide the double hammer of capial growth and the dividend.  You need to manage that ...more

A rise in commodities is one thing as long as your expenses are not going up as much. Inflation is everywhere so can RSI pass along price increases with no push back'. We'll see. I think your strategy with this stock is solid . Well said. Either way you look at it this is a mom/pop stock. As long as they don't reduce the dividend all should be well, but if you are looking for a buy ...more

I also forget I own it half the time ... but that, and its consistent 6%+ dividend, is precisely the beauty of it ... yet you say it almost as if its a bad thing?!?!
