India will soon provide 5G fast internet network The Indian government is targeting the auction of 5G mobile internet network spectrum to begin in March. With this, the internet network will be activated immediately to serve the Hindustan State.
In a press conference, India's Minister of Railways, Communications, Electronics and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, hoped that the whole process would be completed by next August. Even so, he has not said which regions will receive the network for the initial stage.
"By the end of March, we will be ready with everything needed for the auction process," Vaishnaw said Monday, February 7, 2022 at Street Signs Asia CNBC International. "We hope that the auction process will be completed around July, August."
When asked whether Chinese telecommunications company Huawei would be allowed to participate in the auction, Vaishnaw said of course any party who has complied with the applicable regulations in the country can participate in this auction.
The reason is, some time ago, Huawei and its compatriot, ZTE, were removed from this auction trial.
"Any company, I'm not going to name names here, any company that is basically qualified through that trusted process, those companies will be able to provide their equipment to telecommunications service providers who need the equipment," he added.
Last week, India's Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said in her budget speech that the telecommunications industry, and particularly 5G technology, could spur growth and offer job opportunities.
He said if this is done quickly, private telecommunications companies are scheduled to launch 5G cellular services in the fiscal year ending March 31, 2023.
Meanwhile, 5G refers to the fifth generation of high-speed mobile internet which aims to provide faster data speeds. In Indonesia, the 5G internet network can be used in big cities such as the Greater Jakarta area, Bandung, Surabaya, Denpasar, and Makassar.
