Around 2007, all the "experts" predicted nickel to double in 5 years. This is what led sherritt to sell its koal business for almost a billion dollars so they could invest it in ambatovy.
Well the price of nickel didn't double. It fell 50% by the time ambatovy was up and running. And the result....sherritt lost the whole billion dollars there and then.
The commodity business is cyclical and the cycle is highly unpredictable. Anyone who thinks they can time it many years into the future is dreaming
