There is an inherent Ceiling Price to Nickel

The Chinese will never allow sky high nickel prices. 7-8 dollar nickel price is a very good price.

If you are not puking out cash at these levels, then there is something wrong. WIth Sherritt....there is something wrong.

Something is wrong agree , been out for a bit now moved it over for more IVN , I'm in search of metals that will have zero carbon foot print Hydro baby, What does Cuba use for power?

Did the Chinese "allow" high nickel prices in the last commodities cycle..........when they peaked at +$20?  Don't underestimate the strength of demand for a range of commodities in a green infrastructure boom!  JJ

You are proving my point exactly. I don't think you understand the history of the nickel market. The Chinese did not allow the nickel price to stay elevated. They created NPI. And now, they are doing the same with Nickel Matte, except this time they aren't letting the market get ahead of itself. You are going to get burned if you think Nickel is going to hit $20 again.

I appreciate your points and I'm not arguing it, however Nickel matte is not a new product and at least at the moment is just a precursor to the actual compound needed for battery chemistry.  And to get from matte to the endpoint you want requires much refining and processing vs class 1 briquettes.  So I am not sure this will supplant us but if the process can become economic perhaps ...more

Agreed. Right now, the economics are marginal at best. It's more of a strategic decision.

Funny how David Pathe kept stating that there was no new supply coming to the market. Shows how lost this company is still. At least cobalt is up to overpay bonuses.
