Decidedly, you pick bad examples. PPY is shooting up because of the excitement surrounding the multiple (and ever louder) announcements of LNG projects on the coast of BC, which would put PPY at a huge advantage.

PPY's reserve valuations are huge, IF PETROBRAS goes ahead with their LNG plants, PPY will benefit significantly. Investors are placing their bets this will happen, hence the positive jumps in PPY's share price, uncorrelated with daily NG price movements which are kept under a lid for the time being. PPY was trading at $12 last summer...
