Paul Colborne Quote from Calgary Herald

Quote from the Calgary Herald

In Canada and the U.S., capital discipline continues to prevail for petroleum producers.

Surge Energy CEO Paul Colborne said the junior oil and gas company has set its budget and won’t change it “by one iota,” focusing instead on paying down debt and returning money to investors.

He doesn’t expect many oil producers will substantially alter their plans until government attitudes toward the sector shift.

“The politicians have to start realizing how important crude is,” he said.

I don't know how many woke ppl have spat in my face that oil and gas is obsolete these past few years.  They invested in cannabis.  They voted for wind and solar.  They cheered when the Ottawa truck protest leaders were hauled off to jail merely for daring to get noticed by Castro jr to tell him loudly to lay off our Charter Rights.  It's a great article about punching ...more

Agree with some of what you said but this isn't the place to defend those who moved in and occupied a city for almost a month, disrupting the lives of residents and preventing many people from actually earning their own living.  I don't really want to have the debate but thought I'd put in something from the other side. Good luck to all long-suffering Surge longs.  Well, at ...more

Bud you hopefully understand the value of individual freedom.  The fact that you're posting here should be evidence of that.  But excuse me if I find it rich after 2 years of useless Covid lockdowns that somebody would take issue with people protesting for a mere month in the Nation's Capitol to end Gov't overreach.  Incidentally the anti-oil policies of the progs in ...more

I like to see posts like ditchdigger's. It proves to me that there's still dinosaurs, so a good future oil supply. Good thing Covid wasn't 3 or 4 times more deadly, or Surge futures would be way down, due to the glut of future reserves.

All you have is name calling and a nasty attitude . You dont even have science on your side only political science.

As I mentioned previously, I won't really get into the debate since this is a forum about Surge I'm hoping.  It would be difficult anyway to argue with such a condescending deep-thinker as yourself...

Nice personal attack.  Classy.  Calling out hypocrisy isn't condescension.  It's not personal either.  I haven't seen any progressive thinker that isn't one.  Doesn't take deep thought to see how Canada's oil and gas industry has tremendously benefitted the entire country over decades.  Or that individual rights and freedoms have had a big hand ...more

I'll bite a little, but just for fun. I get bored before the makets open! Why must you take one thing said (basically that I disagree with the extended time occupying Ottawa and disrupting people's lives there) to mean all you said above?  I am obviously a supporter of the industry and the company.  I understand the industry's contribution and importance within our country.& ...more

I for one stand with with the truckers! They made Trudeau look like the fool that he now is, to everyone. Personally, I hope that more young people will get out and vote in all elections in this country.  Kherson

It's only American style/Fox vs. CNN in your head.  My beliefs about the value of Equal Freedom, Liberty and Justice for All are strong and have been since childhood.  I knew people growing up that had survived Hell on Earth in Pol Pot's Killing Fields and as an ethnic German with a Jewish-in-Law I had some extra impetus to understand what happened in Germany prior to WWII.  ...more

Well at least nobody's bragging about the gun toting fools, who went down to Coutts, hoping to reaquire their rights by planning to shoot Cops.  Pretty Darn embarrassing for all those Anti-Progressive's, read O'Tolle : oops he's been fired by his own.  kc

I thought they would do $35-40 million FCF a few weeks ago.  Now could they do $50-55 million FCF in first quarter if oil stays above $100.  Less capex second quarter and maybe full quarter of oil over $100 so maybe $70 million in second quarter?  This is a cash cow company distributing huge cash flow to shareholders.
