Undervalued?

Hello Shopify shoppers. This just in. Shopify is trading at levels well below the 2020 Covid crash and all the way back to summer 2019. In other words, all the revenue, acquisitions, market share they have experienced over the past three years is worthless in the view of Mr. Market.

I won't even mention the insider buying by the CEO and mgt, over the past month.

Are you seriously telling me, Shopify has not grown over the past 3 years? That the stock is worth the same as the summer of 2019.

My bet- long term value- Buy and hold for 2 years.

Any opinions?

I think you are assuming the valuations going into the Covid crisis we're correct (the market knows best).  Why diss the market now?  Until we get some indication that there is some "all's stable" news coming out of the fed (probably well within your two year window) I think we can count on Shop being in a fight for fewer $$.  They've also decided to try and ...more

Undervalued? It looks like the market is saying that its overvalued and thats why its selling off. When a stock drops from $2200 to $420 theres issues. Their doing a 10:1 share split because theres not enough volume so if its cheaper then daytraders might get involved. A 10:1 split is a double edge sword because on bad days you'll have huge volume selloff but on bullish days you'll have ...more

My prediction is that Shop will be added to the historical scrap heap of failed Canadian tech stocks. Looking at the chart, the share price experienced the same excessive runup as other past Canadian tech darlings. The 10:1 stock split will be the death knell.  With increased shares floating in the market, it will be easier for shorters to play their games.  Bezos, Gates and others will ...more

Agreed SHOP through its acquisition of Deliverr is planning to have a fight with AMZN.  They may win but they are taking on the heavyweight champion and there is a lot of risk in doing this.  As well, I am not convinced that buying Deliverr for 2.5 billion was a good of use of their money and I suspect the market as whole shares that view or at least it is going to discount the SP until ...more

Yup.  I'm not sure how the banks tamp down inflation and avoid recession (outside my pay grade).  That said, every day the "Prime" van rolls past my house, but always drops off deliveries to all my neighbours (X2 per day).  If anything, the volume is picking up even with pandemic factors subsiding (people are going out, but not to get things that can be delivered ...more

Yep. Probably more like Black Friday in November rather than December but that is just "splitting hairs". Maybe I am different than most people (who knows?).  I have had Amazon Prime for years.  That said, it isn't the fast delivery as to why I have it.  It is the other things like the 2 million songs I get on my Alexa for my playlists ,and the movies/shows. I buy ...more

Here's my take: The playing field has changed for SHOP since 2019: 1) As others have mentioned arleady, two words: Amazon Prime Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Amazon's expansion of their Prime service designed at least in part to take away as much of SHOP's market share as possible? 2) Was the $2.1B Deliverr acquisition a shrewd move by SHOP to go toe-to-toe with Amazon ...more
