Nevoro Montana Inc (Starfield). is seeking approval from the BeartoothRanger District to drill on its mining claims near Iron Mountainand Crescent Creek, 12 miles west of Nye, in a search for platinumand palladium.
?The Custer National Forest is seeking public comment on theproposal, which includes exploratory core drilling and geologicmapping. The legal description for the drilling area is Township5S, Range 14E, Sections 8 and 20.
Four of the 10 drill sites would be accessed by helicopter andsix would be located on Crescent Creek Road by way of Pickett PinRoad. No road or trail construction is proposed.
Dependent upon weather and snow conditions, drilling could startas early as July and be completed by fall. Drilling at each sitecould occur up to 24 hours a day. Springs may be developed for thedrill sites. As each exploration hole is completed, the drill rigwould be moved to the next location and the site would bereclaimed.
Nevoro has proposed housing personnel in a camp on Iron Mountainor transporting them in each day by truck and helicopter.
Last year, Nevoro proposed a similar project, called the WestVez Plan of Operations, which included exploration on the GallatinNational Forest. The Custer portion of the West Vez Plan has beenreconfigured and is included in the Upper Iron Creek/Crescent CreekPlan.
