RE:Gas vehicles sales to be banned in Canada - Trudeau14 calendar years might as well be measured in light years when it comes to the stock market which gyrates by the day. That doesn't mean we can ignore 2035, but just over a year ago, WTI closed at negative $40 per barrel on the last day of one of the contracts.
74% of Alberta's oil is exported to U.S. markets so whatever Trudeau sets as government policy in Canada today doesn't change much for Canada's oil industry.
By 2035, Trudeau won't be around as surely his wife will have killed him by then.
I can't easily find the figures for the percentage of total oil consumption by light vehicles in Canada as part of the overall production of oil in Canada, but restricting light vehicle consumption isn't going to have a big effect on Alberta oil production.
When eco warriors or investor alarmists declare that oil is dead, the only real take away is that they haven't done their homework.
Trudeau is just posturing as part of his election strategy.
