RE:RE:RE:I took 5 minutes looking at Shopify's Financials And Was Obscure1, Still waiting for a "Thank You" for answering YOUR request.   Giving you Valuable information.    Saving you Days/Weeks and $$$$$ of research.     Now using what I've teached you, even though it's early, now you can see that Q2 for Shop is also looking like a LOSS at this moment.

All just my opinion/view/thinking.

RagingBull3 wrote: Obscure1..... The Income Statement.     Remember, I'm no expert, and I basically know nothing about SHOP..... But if you understand an income statement you should have easily spotted what I saw and could easily guessed that Q1 would most likely report a Massive Loss.

From the income statement, my understanding is, most of SHOP's  Income/Loss orignate not from their "operations" but from some sort of "investment" under the title "Gain on Sale of Security".    At that time I didn't know what that investment was, I guessed is was in the stock market.

Given the market was DOWN, I guessed that there would be a HUGE Loss on their investment, whatever it was/is.     If the market was down, most likely so was their investment.

Just look at past years and compare it to what the market did  (Market level vs Shop's investment)

The extent of my research for all my investment basically just looking at Income Statement and Balance Sheet.  The odd time I check out Cash Flow statement also.

I'm no oil expert, I'm no Tech expert, I'm not a scientist.....etc.  I'm not going to understand all the other stuff in the reports.    It's too much..

Q2 shaping up to be another huge loss for Shop, my guessing.

Now you know how I guessing.

All just my opinion/view/thinking/guessing

You are quite the super hero.

I was a financial analyst and I used to spend many days analysing the financial statements of a company, building a relationship with the CFO, and then building a predictive financial model.

The predictive model started with the cash flows of the company and then incorporating the information into an income statement which would then provide the input for a balance sheet.

One I had built my model, I would then speak with the CFO of the company to run my assumptions by him and to fact check.  Typically, there would be revisions and a follow up call.

Then I would create a research report and run it by our head of research who would invariably check in with the investment banking side if our firm did any underwriting work.

Once the report was ready, it would be shared with our institutional traders before it was made public to give the guys a head start.

The entire process has many layers and is time consuming.

I tip my cap to your super power of being able to analyse "the financial statements" in 5 minutes and come up with a definitive analysis.  Perhaps you would like to share which statements you were referring to and what factors caught your eye to trigger your conclusions.

I don't like using the IGNORE button, but it comes in handy when blowhards just can't help themselves.
