to do. We are caught between the dangerous course of US politics and the also
dangerous course of the US financial situation. I am thinking of taking a position in
gold as part of a hedge against economic and political catastrophe. I am curious as
to your thoughts for preserving ones assets against troubled times.
I think if Trump were to get elected before any verdict could be rendered in his
insurrection case, he would claim immunity as a sitting president. This could
precipitate another insurrection if the Democrats try and force him out. The
interpretation of presidential immunity has not been tested to this degree and is
far from being clear. Nixon was impeached and forced to resign without the issue
of immunity being raised however Trump and the GOP would not go quietly in the
night like Nixon. The US could be in jeopardy for the first time since the civil war.
The army might have to be called in. Then its all up to the generals and where
their loyalties lay. Not looking good for the world's leading democracy.
