bt.....having seen countless elections here and elsewhere over the years, there is no doubt in my mind that your statement that there are dumb people who can't see through the manipilation is very true. Iin the US about 40-45% of the people don't pay any income tax so the Dems bribe them saying the rich will pay for it and they vote Dem thinking that they are getting something for nothing
