Northern Gateway

Northern GatewayNow that Gateway has been given government approval, the fact of the matter is - it is Enbridge's pipeline to build now.  With proper funding, nothing can stop them from proceeding.  If (when) lawsuits occur, they will end with settlements only.

The BC province is demanding 5 conditions to be met - if Enbridge dismisses their wishes, then the Province could make things harder for Enbridge by slowing down permit approvals, etc.  As for the 209 conditions,..these will take time and energy, but can certainly be attained.

With Suncor being one of the financial 'backers' of the project, they would to receive a return on this investment, however, with escalating costs to build now (the project's cost is more likely to be $12 billion range), certainly there will be negotiations going on right now figuring out toll prices, and whether or not things make sense from the backers standpoint.
