RE:RE:Inflation warThe Great Inflation lasted from about 1965-1982. There was a lot of crazy stuff going on in that period including the inflation caused by U.S. Vietnam War spending, the 1973 oil embargo and the expansion of the Welfare State with massive deficits. These current 3/4% interest rate increases will really whack car and home purchases. Average new car price in the U.S. is around $42k financed for around 6 years. 30 year mortgage interest rates have jumped from around 3.3% to somewhere around 6.3%? Union power to force wage hikes has greatly diminished, with U.S. union membership falling from about 20% in 1983 to around 10% today:37% in U.S. government, around 7% in private sector. Layoffs have already started, most recently in the phoney meat sector, and for good reason. I recently, by mistake, ate part of a veggie sausage. It was so foul I wanted to cut my tongue out and bury it in the back yard. God bless us one and all.
