your postulation sound plausible on the surface but i have some doubt on them:
1. Why would Bashar al-Assad expects big trouble coming when he gained a new and powerful alliy, China?
2. In term of seeking a safe refuge, Mr and Mrs al-Assad's 3 children were born and raised in Syria during the civil war. The children are adults now. I can't see them in more danger now than before if they stayed in Syria.
3. You said china economy is buckling with a dark future, why would Mr & Mrs al-Assad want to leave the children behind in such dark place?
