You all are missing the point

WTI is holding $57/brl , thats all that you really need to look at . Suncor is an oil producer first and foremost and the price of oil has been trading above $50/brl since the start of the year . In a rising price environment , refinery assets perform financially as well . Q1 numbers could see revenues back around $7 billion which will supercharger FCF . No matter whether management decide to buy back stock (which is a bargain right now) or increase the dividend , it bodes well for the SP . Analysts want you to look back because looking out the front window shows blue skies and an open road . SU at $22.00/sh is crazy cheap , I don't see this lasting any longer .

Every barrel from Syncrude is SSB and it receives a premium to WTI , I believe they produce about 400,000 brl/day . The world needs $60/brl and production has responded to support that price . Suncor's assets will be working for decades to come and regardless of what some people say , the world will continue to used oil and gas . This is still a great long term hold and at this price , its a ...more

Suncor could very well be the best investment in OG at the moment. I own BTE, CPG, CNQ, ENB, CVE for OG stocks.  CVE until now was the easiest investment I've ever seen on the planet until now. It's had a great run, still has a ways to go.  ENB has to be in your long term plan, I have the others for short term gain. But Suncor has now became the biggest no brainer out of them ...more

But if that was the case why did all the other oil stocks double?

You are a braindead troll. You proved that so many times commenting on various Canadian REITs. None of your prediction came true. Not one.

I'm sticking with Suncor because it is not as sensitive to oil prices. It got demolished because demand dropped off the cliff, but such an event is likely than a sharp drop in oil prices. If you want Torque to oil prices, I'd go with smaller producers such as ERF or tve.

Did you just quoted a May 2022 future price ? You didn't fjnd one from 2030 perhaps ? You people are funny. Not stopping at anything . Even if it is the dumbest argument. Educate yourself first before you completely discredit yourself.

In the near term, the oil market is in backwardation, as the physical supply remains tight, which makes sense, as OPEC+ is still holding the line in regard to production cuts, and for the most part even non opec players like US shale have largely resisted the urge to ramp up drilling thus far, though rig counts have been steadily ticking up, week over week, since bottoming out in august.  US ...more

prophet and tommy , you keep harping about "futures" and backwardation like these are guaranteed prices . As with everything , those prices can change over a weekend . Furthermore I wonder if anyone actually read the 2020 year end or you are just quoting news article bullet points . I did read that report and I see a company that has turned the corner . Syncrude (the jewel in the crown) ...more

In regard to the share buybacks, I think that investors were disappointed by the fact that buybacks were put in the backseat while share price is in the lows 20s and deleveraging was prioritized instead. I think people were hoping that the company would do the opposite (ramp up buybacks), especially with the dividend cut still in place: Suncor will remain disciplined in its capital allocation ...more

Buried in that report (if you read far enough) says they have received clearance from the TSE to start repurchase of shares commencing Feb 8th 2021 . In a perfect world , nobody gets disappointed but this is far from a perfect world . I put my confidence in management and will be watching with great interest . You do what works for you Chris

they announced the repurchase a few weeks ago, this maybe a big help in movies the share prices up going forward.
Comment by topdown99 on Feb 07, 2021 1:43pm
Fine , they "announced" it a few weeks ago but read the details !!!!! NCIB - normal course issuer bid "On Feb 8th 2021 , Suncor will enter into an automatic share purchase plan in relation to purchases made in connection with the NCIB" . The daily limit will be 2.497 million shares which is based on recent average daily volumes . Arrangements have been made and the plan is in ...more

I got that, how much do you think it'll influence the share prices? I don't have experience observing that at work.
Comment by topdown99 on Feb 07, 2021 3:48pm
It all comes down to supply and demand , SU is clear to buy 2.497million shares on any given day which is 25% of the average daily volume . We'll see how many shares are offered at $22 but I would think that increased buying will provide upside pressure .

Let's all pray to the oil gods that you're right. Good points
Comment by Chris007 on Feb 07, 2021 2:17pm
I am doing what works for me. I'm holding SU, not so much because i think management is doing a good job, as because the macros for energy, right now are steadily improving. Basically, a rising tide lifts all boats. Add to that, the fact that SU has been a laggard in the recovery, so I think it presents a good value opportunity. That being said, I think most investors would have liked more ...more
