With all due respect, your statement suggests that you have not really looked at SU and how it makes money compared to the others that you mentioned.  As well, your post doesn't recognize how The Street values companies and determines their their SP. On this Board, many posters have made comments about why CNQ is doing much better than than SU and think SU should do as well. The fact of ...more

Thank you experienced.  That is the type of response I am looking for.  I will wait until for the q report and decide then whether to dump my shares.  I have read the reponses regarding the effects of the green monsters on the future price of oil company prices.  It seems the others are not affected by the greenies a much.  So you feel there are no operation issues only a ...more

Good questions... I want to make one thing very clear.  I am not recommending that people here dump their shares of SU.  All I am saying is that when one company in the same industry is performing better than another in terms of the SP, there is a reason for it.  Wise investors try to find out the reason and then make a judgement as to what they should do that is in their best ...more

problem is some investors want the cake and the icings too. A big portion of SU is downstream, meaning refining and upgrading margin that aren't quite WTI dependent but provide revenue stability during low oil price period. Secondly SU is a more conservative company than CNQ.  CNQ made many acquisition during low oil price cycle. It's the risk they took and getting rewarded now. I ...more

SU to an extent is a dividend company. They cut the dividend and borrowed money and the stock price got slaughtered because that made investors way too nervous. Lots of reasons for the share price to continue it's upward momentum from here.  Possible increase in dividend Contimued share buybacks Accelerated debt repayment new markets opening up crude going to all ...more

I took your advice, and did look at the charts. SU vs CNQ, IMO Since Sept 1. I get your frustrated, but I'm not seeing what you're seeing. I mean, I get it, I'd love SU to be at $40 as well.  CNQ 34-52.50 - 54%   IMO 27-41 - 52%   SU 18.50-28 - 51% Not really 'have managements heads' kinda sub performance. Imagine this conversation.    ...more

Compare the 3 year charts and the price of oil.  If the divi cut is the only reason why then I will buy more SU since it will go up for that reson alone since they will increase it.
