On Sunday November 5 , I sent an email to my local MP , who just happens to be a Liberal representing a riding outside Quebec and the Maritimes. My question was simple and direct. Would the member support her constituents in obtaining the same rights as given to other chosen Canadians vis a vis the Carbon tax on heating fuels ?
Well I got my answer from the news , but not from her. 

Maybe, I should vote for a separatist next time !! (And I don't mean the Quebec variety )

Heating oil and propane are the two most expensive ways to heat your home in Canada. Electricity on average is about 80 percent of the cost of oil and propane Natural gas is about 55% of the cost of oil and propane Wood pellets are about 45 % Wood is 30 %

Heating your home is a complex subject. Heating methods depend on numerous factors particular to different localities , construction type and whether units are rental or not. The Liberal hokum is deplorable. Even the concept of applying carbon taxes to fossil fuels is severely misguided. If taxes are not global , then production will merely be displaced to where taxes are lower or non-existant ...more

I'm an HVAC Designer.  Been in the HVAC business for a long time.  Not much has changed in terms of decision making around fuel choices.  Indeed location is a big factor, so is "backup heat" for emergencies, like power outages.  No one wants to be sitting around a candle in their snow suits at -25°C. it's no difference than the current Irush to EVs we are seeing today. Too fast, too much, too soon. I know battery format, form factor, recipe ingredient will change rapidly as we are still on the learning curve. EV makers and battery recyclers need to be careful how much money they want to sink into their business.
