RE:Embedded DPI...Embedded DPI (in the context on the Infonetics report you are probably quoting) is the DPI sold as a feature in a larger product (typically a router), sold by the largest Telecom equipment vendors – as opposed to the standalone DPI product sold by Sandvine.
Most (if not all) of such potential vendors (Cisco, ALU , Ericsson) already have such functionality.
There are also other cases of embedded DPI, by smaller vendors such as F5, Citrix and also Allot that sells a number of services with its DPI. However, the main market here is the largest TEMs.
Several, well- established, companies (like Qosmos and Procera after the acquisition of Vineyard) offer DPI engines to vendors interested in adding DPI – either for traffic management (the traditional “DPI” solution) or for intelligent traffic filtering/steering function
