RE:RE:My short position is redeemed today !Milhouse,
What you say is correct. However, shorts never play against the tide and hard facts influencing money flows & profits which will go in net favour of Energy & Telecom.
TELUS balance sheet is strecthed, no doubt but just like banks, telecom companies will do incremental price increase on their regular plans to compensate and stay profitable. Energy is bound to increase in 2016 & 2017 and will lead TSX money flow and benefit banks and telecom indirectly.
On another positive side, Federal government will infuse capital (like quatative easing) for infrastructure which will add up for all as profits in balance sheets. Not to say the least Canadian Central Bank is agreeable to keep rates lower.
More migrants also translate to new additions on plans.
That said, it is highly unlikely for TELUS to fall lower where dividend becomes significant ~5%.
$34 is lowest -- Buy aggressively
$36 is decent entry point given that $7.5 profit is already made on the stock in short position
