what was cause for A shares to drop so much today

Most likely has to do with the elimination of the due-bill basis trading for the Class B shares entitlement that Class A shareholders had.  It was 0.67 Teck.B share given for every 1 Teck.A share held as at May 19, 2023 I think. After this date, the entitlement disappeared so it's just back to granting the 100-votes per share.
