Wow. Debt reduction and dividend talk!

This is the first I remember talking about major profits in the near future going for debt reduction and dividends.

Stuart McDonald, President of Taseko added, "We acquired additional copper put options in the first quarter but have retained 100% of the copper price upside so we will continue to benefit from further copper price increases in the future. Excess cashflow from continued high copper prices in the years ahead, or proceeds from any accretive Florence financing transaction, could be used for debt reduction or dividends."

That's nothing but propaganda. They have their hands full with Florence which still doesn't have a final permit. It will be 18 months before Florence gets going and 2 years at least before it's meaningfully contributing.  Talk of dividends is absurd. It will be 4 or 5 years before they'll be in any position for that.  For him to put that out there is as stupid as their ...more

Hope not.  They said JV was depended on reflecting NPV appropriately.  We will see.

Of course,  but the talk has to start before the actual happens.  Progress.   I was on a plane when the report came out.  Came in here and saw the hysterical reactions.  Have been digesting the details in the airport. I am with you.  To me, this is a good report.  Have no idea how the market will react though. It mystifies me sometimes.  If up, great. ...more

Should we assume "accretive Florence financing"  means funds from a JV?  If so, that would not seem to be a very sustainable model for paying dividends.  Instead, why not just forget any JV and instead pay dividends from the 10-15% of Florence production retained by not entering into a JV?  Like others, I do not expect Taseko to pay dividends any time soon (or ever?), ...more

The way stu worded the dividend thing was future speak. After flor is producing. There goal is to prove alley recoveries and find a buyer. So lets say in a couple years they get a billion and flor, gib are popping a billion per year to bank. So lots to build ymi and pay debt off. So with ymi tko popps 2 billion per year to bank. So lets say half go to sh. 3.00 cad per share with cash to build ...more
