Taseko Mines Ltd > Sojitz Sale ???

Sojitz Sale ???

Is this real??? Hoax?? Given that Taseko had a news release this AM and made no mention of this alleged deal, has a certain implication: that the amount of $ involved is non-material.

Looking at old history, Cariboo Copper bot 25% of Gibraltar in 2010 for 15.9 Billion yen. Sojitz has or had 50% of Cariboo. So, presumably, Sojitz invested 7.95 Billion yen for their position. Assuming there was no further investment to boost the book value, and to announce today taking a loss of 6.3 Billion yen, implies a sale price of 1.65 B yen.

If my calcs are correct, that's about Cdn$17,110,857. Which might well be an immaterial amount in the financial scheme of things requiring disclosure. I'm probably way off base here, but on the crazy assumption that maybe I'm right or close to right, I speculated on a small purchase. Colour me 'in'.

You're entitled to your opinion. As I said, I'm probably off-base here, but IF Taseko can convince their Japanese partners that 12.5% of Gibraltar is worth a meagre C$17.1 million, I'll put my money on Taseko's side of the table.

Not a press release.  BB said they are trying to track down the source of this story.  Said none of it makes sense.

Some points. 1. It does not seam like bb denied the deal. 2. The 1rst thing, if u were surprised is get on the horn and ask if the release was true. 3. If not, a denial release would b in order.  Do I trust these guys?? Happy guessing:)) nf

We will see.  I got on the horn.   No denial of negotiation.  Stated flatly that no agreement has been reached.  Stated flatly that there is no impending environmental issue, and I asked him directly.  Stated flatly that the grades are not getting worse.  Said 2022 was a tougher year with grades than expected but 2023 is expected to be better.   I know this ...more

They took a 50 million u.s. impairment jc.  They have nothing left to lose. They made bucket loads last year. Tko was there only fly in the ointment. like me, they got tired of all the missed forward statements. There grades have missed 4 three years now. But all of a sudden bb will know this year will b different. With sp dropping like a lead balloon, covenents could trigger withdrawals on ...more
