Talison Lithium (TLH : TSX : $5.50), Net Change: 0.55, % Change: 11.11%, Volume: 362,145

Lithium demand may triple by 2020...Guess who is the only North American-listed pure-play lithium producer? Talison

Lithium announced earlier this week that its quarterly production was up 24%, thanks to improved efficiency at its processing

plants. Talison said it produced a record 80,729 tonnes of lithium concentrate, the equivalent of about 12,000 tonnes of lithium

carbonate, at its Greenbushes mine in Australia in its first quarter, ended September 30. The Perth, Western Australia-based

miner, which is the biggest producer of lithium in the world by sales, sold 52,524 tonnes of concentrate in the quarter, a 6%

increase over the same period a year earlier. Separately, Bloomberg reported Tuesday afternoon that lithium demand may triple

in the next decade, as consumers buy more portable electronics and battery-powered vehicles, according to James D. Calaway,

Chairman of lithium miner Orocobre (ORL). Calaway told Bloomberg that global lithium demand of about 110,000 metric

tonnes may double by 2020 solely from existing applications such as mobile phones and glass making. He added that sales to

electric-vehicle battery makers will add 10,000 tonnes by 2015 before increasing more rapidly.
