Landlocked

For those interested, a discussion tonight on Global TV at 9 o'clock ET. The subject: Landlocked: Canada's Energy Dilemma.

I expect little news, but perhaps some new observations. Brad Wall thinks the provincial premiers should get the ball rolling. A (false) dilemma is this: Canada will spend more carbon to compress NG into LNG, while the good side is that LNG will replace dirtier carbons in Europe where they burn coal and so to generate heat and electricity.

Seems to me that Canada would reap enormous financial benefits to grow millions of trees for instance to alleviate the emissions. (And help us as investors!!).

Actually the LNG (Shell) facility at Kitamat is all electric with the power coming from the site C hydrp-electric project on the Peace River so no carbon footprint . Even the pipeline compressers are electric .

What i love about this now is the Liberals  are talking about doing what Harper fought for decades ago. The Liderals and NDP has been a disaster for this country and the Democratic countries of thre world.

You have the Liberal spin i think yasch22.  Transmountain got bought by taxpayers after a pulbic company cut their losses after endless roadblocks of anti oil Libs and NDP policy  , so he had to buy it and it's higher cost since the purchase well we will all pay for that .  O'bama stoped Keystone when he came to power and Trudeau  joined him at the whitehouse in ...more

Absolutley true.  Its a bloody disgrace for this country that our resources are landlocked so whatever does get shipped out is at horrific discounts to world prices.  Canada is so far behind in developing oil & gas infrastructure that when the German chancellor came begging for help,  Trudeau flippantly responded that if there were a business case strong ...more

Investors won't tie up money in Canada becuse you can't get anything built here , Warren Buffett pulled out of a Quebec LNG project . Pieridae could build their terminal but there is still no plan or permits for the pipeline connections to either one of those LNG projects . Trudeau has been obstructive from the very start , he was elected to legalize pot not go to war with O&G and ...more

100% agree Trudeau needs to go , but he is a drama teacher afterall (without the qualifications for the job he has ) who knows how to spend other peoples money and buy votes , pretending he cares about the working class while destroying our economy and buring our grandchildren in debt.  Most people don't see disaster until it happens and between the Liberals and NDP we are heading into a ...more

Agreed Skylar , Canada is in a rut with too many people content with depending on "socialism" .  PM - drama teacher  Finance Minister - journalist Health Minister - graphic designer Environment - activist with criminal record Amateurs that have no idea how to run a government or international diplomacy , Trudeau has embarrassed Canada too many times . Facts are terribly incorect. Trudeau bought the pipeline to west coast, yes. He allowed both NG and Oil to flow to the Pacific yes, yes, yes. THEN he developed a bureuacracy to make the whole thing almost impossible. So he pleased both sides - sort of, and actually no-one except his own agenda to stop oil and gas as much as possible. He has been Consistent in this. When he said an economic case ...more

Great post... Kind of make you wish that stakeholders would start fixing the problems, instead of fixing the blame. Kenney and the UCP (MAGA light)  need to walk back the anti BC, anti Quebec, anti Trudeau rhetoric. as these are the groups that Alberta has to deal with. DG needs to butt out and fix his own ship and AECO.

I worked for a city government and heard so many times how a businessman was going to come in and turn things around.  So many tried and failed to accomplish much of anything. They don't work alone and its hard to get enough on board to get things done.

Is there an alternative?

Are you joking?  Poiliever is not a businessman. Not unless you count his time spent as a paperboy for the Calgary Sun, or the few months he spent doing collections for Telus. Poiliever is a career politician, even moreso than Justin.

One fairly significant difference - Poilievre isnt an idiot.

Pollievre is the best politician and hopefully next PM that country has ever experienced. I went to listen to him a couple of weeks before he became leader of the Conservatives. Every word he says makes sense. He has more intelligence in one finger than his liberal counterpart has in his whole body.
