Dividends are dropping

If the special drops below $2, that is a dividend drop.

Sorry Ed, a dividend drop occurs when the fixed dividend is cut. The special dividend is not fixed and is given based on the amount of FCF the company is prepared to commit to a SD. You post like someone who is massively short TOU shares.

I'm not short tou, but I don't own any right now. Maybe when I see if there's another special.  Things that are worth owning continually are ones that pay continually like BK.

On the recent BNN interview, Mike Rose indicated the commitment to pay quarterly special dividends for 2023 although he said they won't always be $2/share and will be based on commodity price.

Bullboard for tou is filled with cheerleaders and the truth here is that dividends are not as high as they were.  That means dropping.

I don't think anyone expects variable or special dividends to be consistent.  They will fluctuate with commodity price and cash flow. There has been no reduction in the fixed dividend.  There might be a lot of "cheerleaders" because TOU is best in class.

Any future special dividends have not yet been announced. Why are you complaining about something that has not yet happened? Last year the first special dividend was only $1.25 and the first regular dividend was $0.20. This year the first special dividend was $2.00 and the regular dividend was $0.25. Do the math. The dividends paid out so far this year have increased significantly compared to the ...more

I sold out at 67.50 so sitting on the sidelines has been good.
Comment by Lupuslupus on Apr 13, 2023 8:51pm
So what do you care about the dividends? The special dividends have nearly paid off my initial investment in Tou i have continued to buy on the way up at points, but the lions share of my investment in this is pretty much playing with house money Waiting for the real payday when Shell buys out Tou
Comment by GunnerG on Apr 13, 2023 10:28pm
I bought at 55.47.  Will sell at ~63.00 after SD is announced. Still have my base that I will not sell.
Comment by fishcarrier on Apr 14, 2023 1:15pm
I did something similar, but NOW I'm fully back IN
Comment by Veterantrader64 on Apr 15, 2023 9:14pm
How many shares does fully mean?
Comment by GunnerG on Apr 17, 2023 3:39pm
That is a question I would never answer, other than to say as much as I want to invest. "Fully invested" would mean different things to different people of differing economic stature. I find if someone says 100 shares, others point a finger, snicker and make comments about how that is nothing.  To that person, it is alot, to someone else with more money, it is not much. BTW, if ...more
