A question for the legal eagles !! on this board

A question for the legal eagles !! on this boardMW stumbled or dug or thinks he dug pivileged information and acted upon before the general public knew about it.
After getting out MW made the info public. Does not that fall under some sort of securities violations. Is manipulating a stock price to one advantage not considered a crime? I know that if you hacked a company data and got info and used it to make personal gains then you committed a crime? Legal and psedo-legals can respomd
