RE: Cows and kangaroosNot so fast, Arte and Beech. We need to get Econiche approved for market in Australia and NZ first. Maybe, McRae is down there politicking for its approval? I hope.
Hello ____,
For any product to be sold in a country, it must first be registered there. Registration processes and timelines vary by jurisdiction and they are not specifically spelled out.
To clarify my earlier comment that government subsidization is unlikely to occur, I was referring to the immediate term. Longer term, given that E. coli O157 is a public health concern, governments may well choose to either mandate vaccination or provide incentives to cattle producers to utilize a vaccination program.
Our Food Safety team is introducing Econiche to branded beef companies and recommending its adoption as a means to add value to their branded product and help to reduce the risk of contamination.
There are various forces that could encourage producers to adopt an Econiche vaccination program. For example, there was an outbreak of E. coli O157 in Japan last year that was traced to Australian beef. Australia is a very large exporter of beef to Japan, and may choose vaccination as a means to protect that franchise and prevent competition from other countries.
Construction of the Vaccine Manufacturing Centre in Belleville is expected to be completed by the end of March, after which commissioning and validation will occur. The plant will be fully operational later this year, and will be available for the production of a range of animal health and food safety vaccines, including Econiche. We currently have a validated facility in Montreal making Urocidin for clinical trials. Expansion of production will be required prior to commercialization, and we have purchased the land and building next door to allow for this expansion.
Sincerely,
Jennifer
