The Chinese's spendings at this point are mostly status driven. Hopefully pets will become a status symbol fast.
They would spend US$ 200 to buy an empty Lafite Rothchild bottle so they can put some cheap wine and sell or serve them as the real thing. Nobody would care or know because they don't know wine at all. But everyone just want to show they are serving or drink the Lafite. A bottle of Screaming Eagle goes for US$2000, just because it is said to be an expensive wine.
That's the purchasing culture there.
