Well, I can give you one reason as to why investors sell...I sold TV today because I wanted to move my investment from a non registered account to a TFSA. Once the money is tranferred on settlement date (3 days), I will buy TV back in my TFSA before it starts moving up or get taken over. This way the capital gain will be tax free.
