RE:Rescue Plan

RE:Rescue PlanI expect calls for equipment were made to anyone nearby who had such. The water has a long way to travel, both up and horizontally, to clear whatever drainage basin the mine lies in. Kilometres of piping for every pump. Establishing and maintaining a high flow rate over hundreds of metres of vertical head is a mammoth problem.

Any engineering student or pumping supplier could easily calculate your pumping and piping requirements, and the detailed underground surveys would tell them exactly how much water needed to be removed.

We're seeing almost a month later that new pumps are being sourced and installed.  I almost can't believe how slowly they are getting these emergency resources installed.

If this happened in Canada there would be calls around the country and world to get pumps and pipes lined up, and within days there would be a huge crew assembled to install and start pumping.

After around 3 weeks, there was only 32 million litres of water removed, or about 13 olympic size swimming pools worth.  That really doesn't seem like much given how urgent the situation is.   Geez our pool guy drains 100,000 L in an hour or so!  Yes I understand it is a lot of elevation to cover, but come on!
