Gaubine,, aka as Wolf fish
I wasn't sure what he was referencing either but did look-up the word Gaubine....and turns out it is a predator fish with toothy jaws, hence Wolf Fish.It also is a night-hunting fish, so swims in dark pools , I guess.
Stanleys last paragrapfs in that summation refer to fish several times, so perhaps that is what he is alluding when he states to get rid of the Gaubine reference...might be a case of negative under-tones,
