Camimex delivers "Silver Helmets" to six outstanding mining units in safety

The Mining Chamber of Mexico (CAMIMEX) presented the Silver Helmets “Ing. Jorge Rangel Zamorano ”to the 6 mining units with the best safety indexes in Mexico, an award that recognizes the daily work of companies and workers in favor of operational safety.

In a virtual event, Luisa Mara Alcalde Lujn, head of the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare, and Fernando Alans Ortega, president of CAMIMEX, gave the awards; which are delivered in the underground mining, open pit mining and plants divisions.


The companies awarded for obtaining the best safety indexes on this occasion were: Open pit mining with up to 500 workers:

Luisa Mara Alcalde, Secretary of Labor, pointed out that “for the Secretariat it is a priority to promote good practices and incentives that help to improve the health and safety conditions of the work centers. In the case of mining, security is a fundamental issue, since it is an indispensable condition for the development of its activities ”.
In 2019, the companies affiliated to CAMIMEX reported an incidence rate of 1.24, a reduction of 24 percent, compared to 2018. Fernando Alans Ortega commented that "the industry will continue to invest resources, technology, training and efforts in the search for goal of zero incidents in mining operations.
