RE:stupidWhen I invest in energy companies I usually stick to multinational names. The smaller energy companies such as VET remind me too much of mining companies, most of which squander shareholder money like no other.

In that light, I read a few years ago that many mining companies struggle to find and keep competent, professional managers because the good ones have moved on to better and more lucrative industries. I think small and medium-sized energy companies increasingly struggle with this as well.

The better investments are in companies that turn oil and gas into useful products and commodities, such as chemical companies. These companies add great value to the supply chain and often reward investors. JMHO. GLTA.
