COVID-19 deaths still stubbornly high

COVID-19 deaths still stubbornly highWith summer weather approaching flu cases naturally drop. COVID-19 metrics are improving but not as well as hoped, demonstrating its extremely high transmission rate. And with its high mortality rate, the number of deaths is stubbornly high. California just recorded the highest number of deaths from COVID-19, which is amazing for this time of year and considering several months have passed since it arrived.

There is no doubt that this virus escalates in a major way in 4-5 months with the return of the seasonal flu season. This will shatter people’s confidence to freely travel and spend. Commerce won’t have a chance to recover before getting crushed again.

We have many more months, if not years, to struggle with this. Until 60-70% of the global population gets infected or a vaccine is developed this virus will negatively affect commerce significantly. A vaccine is over a year away with a best-case scenario. There is no guarantee one will ever be developed as a safe and effective vaccine for any coronavirus-type infection has never been created. Moderna’s announcement from a few days ago has been panned by experts.

Energy is particularly vulnerable. Invest accordingly. JMHO. GLTA.
