Plugging in at a condo
Thanks for your contribution Pandora (what do you have in that box of yours!?). ANother thing that baffles me is how builders are allowed to construct high rise condos like crazy with no thought about how unit onwers would charge their EVs. Obviously, they couldn't have a charger for each unit as the wiring would be a nighmare and add thousands to a unit cost. But having a central spot in the garage where people could charge up means obious delays as those who plug in go and watch TV and don't bother coming back to give someone else a chance. It's fine for folks who have a home with a garage, but those are becoming a rare breed with housing cost being what they are.
IMO, the battery should be a removable item, rather lkike the BBQ gas bottles, when one is empty you exchange it for a full one. It would mean an initial cost, whcih might be quite hiogh, but it would mean that gas stations could offer this service and there would be no delay when you make a long journey.Pull in, excgange, gone.
I appologize to those who, quite rightly, think this is getting off the topic of Vermillion. Just saying...

Do you realize these battery packs are huge and heavy.. plus you would need a licenced mechanic to preform the exchange which would probably take minimum one hour.. that's assuming there's no line up.. its not like opening your hood and switching out a battery.. these batteries are an integral part of the vehicles structure.. ya its a dumb idea.. LOL..
