For those of you looking to pick up more VET like me I expect the share price to drop below $11 before it cycles back up for the next ER.

I will have to disagree with you here only becuase what is haooening in BC right now. I will state my case. NO oil being shiped by rail or road and the supply chain already stressed will see it hugely impacted over the next couple months. We are looking at MASSIVE damage to rail and road systems. VET is diversified in its global reach where smaller O&G is soley dependant on oil lines and rail.

I live in BC right near the area affected and the impact is nothing like you have explained. Its very short term and trucking is still going. A small area is being hit hard. The railway will take a while to rebuild but there are many routes the trucks can take. Hiway's #1, #3 and #99 are opening soon.

Maybe but I don't believe this is trading on commodity prices right now.  Commodity prices were high and VET posted a loss.  The market is going to use that to walk the share price down and make some money on the way.  Lower highs and lower lows are the sign of swing traders and algos pushing it down to where they can load up for the next swing up before the next ER.  They&

Oil and Nat Gas prices rose and VET went down.  What commodity is it tracking hmmmm ?  Long or short doesn't matter when it is true....hmmm.

They didn't REALY REALY lose money last quarter... they just had to sell some gas (at a profit) for less than market price. So it looks like a loss but it's not really. It's just less than if they would have been able to sell for market price.  they bought property and paid down debt. That ain't losing money, that's just not making as much as they could have.

Seems like every earnings call there's a discrepancy with VET. Doubt that ever change too. Some things are just written ;)

So if you earn money and then buy property and pay down debt you didn't really earn money or have to pay tax on it?  Is that how it works? So I can earn money buy a plot of land and pay off my mortgage tax free?  Cool!

I'm not quite sure how the taxes work.  but I'm keeping with your proper analogy.  if you were a landlord and you signed a long term lease with a tenent and then the rental market got super hot and you're place could rent out for 10X as much but you're already locked into the lease. Which is pretty much what happened with VET, they agreed to sell gas for ... let'

I usually try to explain Hedging from a Farmers point of view !! If somebody "guaranteed a farmer %20 more" for his Harvest in March than his price from last year many farmers would say "Yes" and thus guarantee it will be (future) a profitable season. :Regardless of what the season ending price becomes.  Somebody doesn't have to be a "speculator"

For Nat Gas in Europe Putin said very much the same thing (but of course he's a lying quntt just like DT) "That if the Europeans had guaranteed they would pay for 4 more years of Russian Nat Gas, Russia would have able to invest the $money in the infrastructure & processing, guaranteed that they could sell it at a set price !!" The stupid Euros thought they would be riding

Excellent analogy.  I was surprised that the ... loss of profit would be recorded as a loss. Is recording this loss beneficial come tax time? That would be one heck of a party trick
