Australian deal fell throughJust when the Dot Com bubble burst, or shortly thereafter. My memory fails me as to the exact cause of the deal falling through but I think it had something to do with the company or Aussie Government transcription service going out of business. It was a very long time ago, then VIQ went through a whole mess and would have gone bankrupt except for some very fancy financial oil and gas restructuring. Yes oil and gas. Where for certain considerations VIQ ( VQS) was given new life and a fresh start with new equity parsed out to them through this one time deal. Since then what you see is what you get. They lost a lot of talented people at the time to layoffs and in some cases dismissals without compensation. Lot of staff bitterness after the debacle.
I haven't followed VIQ's fortunes since then having sold what shares I owned at the time into the deal to come out about even. Although I know the potential is there but the sales team if there is one is having a hard time.
Back then they were trying to come up with a way to operate computers with voice command technology, that proved to be an insurmountable obstacle, and remains to this day so, due to the nuances and myriads of accents and languages, as well as pursuing the overnight legal transcription service.
I think they are exploring an entirely different field now and trying to be first through the door with their technology, but having difficulty convincing customers it's the way of the future to go paperless in the medical profession.
If you've plenty of patience and you have a strike price in mind then perhaps it's worth a gamble, but the share price since putting in it's high earlier this year according to the chart hasn't approached that high mark since.
To each his own. If you like a gamble check out XRC on the TSX.
Exeter Resources also has a website with all current info posted.
Has VIQ improved it's communication skills with it's investors or are they still hiding what they are doing under a bush. Their N/Rs were very infrequent and far between back then leaving us investors at the time very frustrated for want of information. The majority shares were very closely held by what amounted to a family , I don't know if that's the same today.
Good Luck with it. I'd like to see VIQ become successfull myself they never quit trying.
Thanks for the comparison charts
