Good article by Phil Flynn.  Thanks for posting.
One thing he mentioned ( and that many others bring up) is that Europe made a big mistake becoming overly dependent on oil and gas from Russia.  That appears to be true based on the way things have played out in Ukraine, but I have a different view.  In a sane world, Russia should be treating the European customers as a prized market that they should do everything to maintain.  Where in the world would Russia find a better market for their resources than the population dense and  rich nations of central and western Europe.  Conversely, Europe obviously needs oil and gas and what better source than Russia (politics aside).  The win/win in this arrangement between Russia and Europe seems blindingly obvious, and both sides should be doing everything they can to nurture and further develop the relationship IMHO.  To throw out all the gains that are possible with Eurpoe/Russia relations over a dubious land grab in Ukraine seems totally insane.
