RE:RE:nat gas news....
HOGWASH !!! The US was able to export LNG quickly because the plants, pipelines and port facillities were ALREADY BUILT !!! The US IMPORTED LNG for decades from the middle east. The Marcellus happened, cheap gas was everywhere on the east coast, prices plummeted. Those plants were redundant and economical and were mothballed. When the war in Europe erupted and prices there skyrocketed it was a quick and easy process to convert those existing re-gassification plants, already connected by pipelines to major gas hubs, for export.

Just look at LNG Canada....the first LNG export facility in this country. The consortium led by Shell took SEVEN YEARS before it made a final FID and then another SEVEN YEARS to build the plant, the pipeline and port facilities to handle the ships. People like you would have us believe we could export LNG in BBQ propane tanks to Europe next month!!! That's just ridiculous.

When Trudeau said he didn't think there was a a business case for LNG exports from the east coast he was only repeating what the industry players had told him. First you need a pipeline from Montreal to NB...around the northern tip of Maine....that's a LONG WAY...then build a plant and port facicilies.
Chances are by the time you're done (a dozen years later), the war is over, Russians are trusted again and gas exports from them to Europe resume at low prices....Who the heck would make a multi billion dollar bet like that...at least a dozen years in advance before you'd get some money back...maybe!!!
NOBODY that's who!
